Not interested in education? How can you motivate yourself to study?

Many a time, studying becomes a highly daunting task for several students. If you are one among them, do not feel depressed about it. There are several students, who is sailing in the same boat as you, and this might happen with every student at some point in their student life, due to certain surrounding factors, which leads to demotivation. It could be anything ranging from parental authority to peer pressure, or a lack of interest in a subject that is a mandatory requirement in your degree or a disliking for a teacher. These are only a few of them and there could be several reasons. However, quitting studies and dropping out of college is definitely not the answer. In today’s competitive environment, education is a necessity, for leading a dignified life. The article helps you in how to deal with demotivation, and how to motivate yourself, even when you are least interested in studies.

Lack of physical energy and tiredness

This could be a major factor. Students, who do not eat well, tend to feel tired that stops them from concentrating on studies. This ultimately demotivates them and make them lose interest in studies. According to medical studies, poor eating leads to dropping in glucose levels in the body. When there is not enough glucose supply to your brain, the brain withdraws from concentrating on studies. See that you eat well so that, you will have enough energy and strength to concentrate.

Imagine the fruitful aspects of education

This is a very common tactic that athletes follow. When they get tired in the middle of the race, they tend to get demotivated to run further and almost decide to quit from the race. To avoid this, they invented a tactic where in, they imagine about how’s it going to be when they are first to reach the end point. The applause they get! The trophy they win! This helps them in getting motivated to run faster, forgetting about their tiredness. In the same manner, imagine yourself 3 or 4 years from now, on the day you get graduated and what pride it brings to you and your parents.  And what is the value you are going to earn. The imaginary tomorrow can become your motivating factor today.

Find out and meet people who are in the similar state of mind

This is one very good way of motivating yourself for studying. Find out people who are sailing in the similar state of mind and form a study group. Also, set objectives for what you have to do as a group, to achieve success in your study. Study together, discuss about what you studied, and share your views with one another. You will not only achieve your learning goals, you will also look forward to your next meet for study.

Avoid overburdening your study

One mistake most students do is, they realize that they have to study when the dates of the exams are nearly approaching. Students tend to accumulate a great amount of portions of their syllabus to cover in a short span of time. They also would have forgotten those topics that was taught some time back in the class. Having not able to recollect what they learnt in the class, and the accumulated amount of tasks, will ultimately lead to an exam fear, thus putting the students into a fretful situation. Anxiety is one factor that demotivates students to study and also makes them unfit to retain the concepts they studied. The best solution for this is to revise the concept that were taught in the class, on the same day, without postponing. This way, you will be avoiding prolonged study, as you will require only a few minutes to half an hour to revise what was taught in the class. Since whatever was taught in the class will be fresh in your mind, the revision process becomes easy for you. This helps in better retention, thus eliminating the overloading of syllabus to cover in just a few days before the exams.
