For the year 2016, AISECT University Bhopal has garnered the top honours at the World Education Summit, a meet arranged through the efforts of Elets Technomedia. This World Education Award is presented in the category – Progressive Higher Education Institution Operating in the Private Sector. Elets Technomedia is an international education platform that brings together followers of learning and education.
Apart from the World Education Summit award, AISECT has won many awards on the National and International stage for its enterprising work in the fields of Education, Enterprise and Empowerment. Notable among these are World Economic Forum Yearly Award, Schwab Foundation Social Entrepreneur, Manthan Award South Asia & Asia Pacific, and the Financial Inclusion e-Gov award as Best ICT.
The World Education Summit (WES) aims to honour and highlight excellent innovative practices in the country at school and college levels. The summit saw entrepreneurs showcase their talents in various disciplines in teaching and learning methods. Awards were given in 40 categories.
Asked for his opinion on the occasion of the win Professor Vijay Kant Verma, the Vice-Chancellor said that AISECT University had grown to become a leading institution that focused both on skills as well as good learning methods. He was sad that hands-on experience was not emphasised upon in India in academic courses. To overcome this shortcoming, he said that they had collaborated with several industries in their locality with the aim of providing students with hands-on training. They had also begun a Skill Academies section for all departments to help keep students progressive.
Other World Education Award winners this year were Dr. C.V. Raman University for the category ‘Best and Next Practices in Open and Distance Learning’ and AISECT venture Brainy Bear Pre-School and Activity Club for ‘Innovative Intervention in Pre-School Teaching and Learning’. The summit has grown steadily over the years and one can see an increasing number of educational professionals taking part. This prestigious platform for interaction among educationists and educational institutions wants to expand its reach to all parts of the country and thus unite the aspirations of all Indian students and teachers.
