Story of a student
One day a student woke up to go to his college. He checked his mobile phone and saw that celebrities are talking about India and intolerance. Some writers are returning their awards, followed by some film makers. He tried to find out where is Intolerance around him. He spent his whole day as per regular routine. In the evening when he is back home, he checks his social media account and again notices that tweet war is on between politicians and celebrities. Photos of politicians who are supposed to sit in the parliament and focus on pending bills and discussions are frequently sitting outside parliament on Dharna since many months on person specific politics.
In one day social media grew a seed of intolerance in the mind of that student. Irrespective of his religion or habits, he started seeing everything furiously. He started watching habits and religious activities of other religions suspiciously, searching for the intolerance in society. #ToleranceTussle became the most trending tag in India. Can’t it be replaced by #TolerantIndia or #Iamtolerantindian or #tolerantindian with examples of India and tolerance?
What is Intolerance in India? : Current Scenario
Few incidents happened in rural India, first thing which media did was to find out the cast or religion of the people who were injured, hurt mentally or killed. If they belong to any backward caste or Islam or any minority then media and politicians try to give it colour of religion and provoke intolerance in the country. Where there were certain mobs pressing the button of anti social activities, tag of intolerance was given to India.
What If the intolerance grows?
While driving a car if you meet with an accident wherein a person gets injured, people will not help either of you. Instead they will check if the person who got hit is a non Hindu or not. And if he is, you are intolerant and purposely banged your car in his vehicle. If you are not a Hindu there is no masala for media story. Imagine the news headline “A rich Hindu brat banged his car in a Dalit’s cycle” Just like the news title below:
This news title could have been published without using religion; such news provokes violence in the adjoining areas. If at all media wants to report the truth, religious angle can be in the story instead of title.
Are Politicians doing their Job?
Politicians who belong to either ruling party or opposition should instead of alleging each other for political benefits, start recreating a tolerant atmosphere. In normal day to day life we are not intolerant. It is the politicians who are making us intolerant. Instead of focusing on constructive criticism and development of the country they are taking us back in the old era. In current scenario politicians are displaying their intolerance on social media and television.
Celebrities Comment on India and Intolerance
It is surprising when celebrities say that India is getting intolerant. No point to prove where Khans rule the bollywood industry. Are they facing Intolerance of any kind? Are you giving the right message to the new generation?
Our Message to all the students of India
We feel there is a need to guide all the students to ignore these intolerant talks and focus on your studies. Fellow students with you in your class are just “students” and there is no place for religious divide in Education institutes. Respect every individual around you and his opinions as well. Also, stop commenting or even reading such tweets or posts which are biased and misguide you regarding the communal atmosphere in your surroundings. Let’s not spoil the communal harmony among the literates.
STOP CALLING INDIAN COMMUNITY AS INTOLERANT AND PLEASE STOP DEFAMING INDIA.
ACT OF FEW PEOPLE MUST NOT BE TAGGED WITH WHOLE OF INDIA.
