Finding a job now is not gender biased anymore. In the advertisements recently, if you are too keen to observe, you can see that one of the qualifications is not gender-specified anymore but, most of the time, we can see, “male or female”. It means that the society is now acknowledging the worth of women in the industry.

Considering this very good enlightenment of our generation today on women’s worth, On this International Women’s Day, I am sure that you are now curious if what are the advantages of being a woman employee in the workplace? Are they even more beneficial than of men’s? Well, let us check on some perks of being a woman employee in the workplace.

Here are some of the most quantified perks of being a woman employee not just in their high stilettos, but in their high morale as professionals working in the industry. I have interviewed some professionals from different fields or professions that are once dominated by men. Here’s what they’ve said.

  1. Jasmin, Civil Engineer and Compact Road Project Engineer

“Well, being a woman engineer is still new to my field. Every time, I attend biddings for my project, I could still observe limited number of women who are civil engineers by profession. But, the very thing that I am a woman is already an advantage. First, they will notice me first and I always get that impressive look from my clients. It seems like they were saying that, “like seriously, what you are doing here?” But the mere fact that I am there, it is no accident, yes, I am an engineer and what these men can do, I also can do.” She jokingly added, “These men might be handsome but they are many, if there is somebody who is the most beautiful in the house that would be me, because I am the only woman in the assembly.”

  1. Alex, Financial Coach

”The world of banking and finance was dominated once by men. They are very well-known in building networks, attending meeting off the office hours just to build relationships with their clients, but now-a-days, these types of strategic way of building your career in the finance world is not practical anymore because everyone has been doing it and it seemed like a cliché now. However, women in nature are more focused in advancing their career in their chosen fields. Being a financial coach and a single mother at the same time is very stressful, mostly if I have series of rejection from my prospective clients in just one week. But I think, it is an instinct by nature of a woman to be practical in all forms. So, I took classes in marketing and social branding. Most of us who enrolled in those classes are women. In fact, the knowledge I have earned from that extra classes, helped me recognize the dos and don’ts in my career. So, building a relationship is not enough, you must be equipped first with additional knowledge to figure out the way for a more legit relationship later on.”

  1. Mandy, Technical Support and Information Technologist

“Information Technology has this picture of men working in building a digital network data to run programs or to troubleshoot. Yes, it is true. In my department there are only 3 of us who are women out of 100 employees. But, the three of us always get the highest number of clients in every quarter.” Wait, you mean, you have surpassed men’s ratings? How did that happen?Hmmmm.. I also actually don’t know but if you were to ask me, what’s the difference between us women to our men in our team, I think, we don’t wear jackets and jeans all the time. We put on some make up and we go to work like we were executives. We always give high regard to our clients and by the word of mouth, our expertise spreads and we get more clients.”

So, being a woman employee in the workplace is really an advantage; if you are a woman and you are reading this, and you’ve been doing well in your chosen career, hats off to you; if you are a man and you are reading this too, you’re doing a great job too man, take this as an inspiration to make yourself a better person and a better professional, because at the end of the day, success is not based on your gender, it will be based on how you have worked hard for your victory.
