Do Your Homework – What does this mean for both Parent and Child?

In my early age when I use to study in primary school, I always use to keep homework as the last priority of my day’s activities. My parents were strict and all my emotional dramas use to go in vain. I always thought why my parents think that homework is the most important activity of my life. I got an answer to this question when I passed school and entered the competitive world.

Let us first understand what doing homework means for a child and then we can relate it to how parents need to prepare and do their homework for child’s future. Here are some key reasons on why you should do your homework.

Time Management

When you do your homework you have a timeline to be met. Let’s say a teacher gives you an assignment which you have to complete in a day. Then you should learn to prioritize it over other activities to meet the deadline assigned to your task.

Similarly, parents need to understand the importance of time and plan their child’s future on time. It plays a vital role in future.

Readiness

Homework prepares you better for the next day at school. It helps you in revision as well as practice. When you focus on improving yourself and giving your best performance in classroom then homework is an essential element.

Parents also need to focus on this aspect, as if they are ready to secure their child’s future they should not leave any stone unturned for the same.

Last Minute Deal

Often we see colleagues in profession panic when they pile up a lot of things for the last minute. The simple reason is that they have been doing this since their childhood. “Mom, I will finish this homework assignment early morning before school”. The only difference is, now you do not have your mom to question, you only try to make yourself understand by saying “It’s an hour job, I will finish it in the spare time I have before meeting”. What happens next is, you receive a call from client/boss and he asks you to use that spare time in another important tasks. Result is Panic and poor preparation.

Parents should avoid last minute, and not wait for the last moment. Planning for Child’s future and securing it is a crucial aspect and delaying it won’t help in the long term.

All the above learnings are very important. Similarly, we as parents need to prepare our self for our child’s future as well and understand the real meaning of “Do Your Homework”.

Parents need to plan and secure their child future well and do their homework for this. Once they prepare and plan all things, they are making sure that children’s aspirations are well in focus.
