Arrogant Professors : How To Deal With Them?

Arrogant Professors : How To Deal With Them?

University life is really colorful and full of varied situations in and out the campus. One of the most common experiences while you are in college is meeting arrogant professors. They do not have any problem but they are just difficult to deal with. They demand more than other professors that will require you to exert more effort than usual, so that you will pass their subjects. You are lucky if you will not encounter a arrogant professor in your university years, but if you are not so lucky enough and it seems like arrogant professors are your soul mates, here are some suggestions that you might want to take a look so that you could handle them like a pro:

  1. Learn to adapt their style

The styles of these professors are not the same to the usual professors. They set their own rules and sometimes, their rules are additional to the university rules. Like for example, they will require you to use a certain ink of pen in a certain type of an examination or test. So, you should pay attention in every minute detail of their style because if you do that, they will remember you and you will gain a very good impression from them. The truth about these professors is that, they are seeking importance. It does mean that they want that their rules should be on top of your priorities.

  1. Laugh if they are cracking jokes even if it is not funny

Yes, I understand that laughing without any reason or laughing at something not funny is weird, but arrogant professors are the worst jokers among all the people inside the university, but you have to be very careful on this because the moment that they cast a joke and nobody laughs, that would mean that you do not have any sense of comprehension and that only people with high level of understanding could grasp their meaningful joke. But, that’s not really true in all forms though, most of the times, their jokes are just out of the context and they could hardly crack it right.

  1. Make them feel that you like their subjects so much

This one really works. Most of the challenging and arrogant professors are from Social Sciences department and thus, their mindsets are influenced by so many philosophers, socialists and other people whose beliefs were inspired by art in the human history. This means that most of the subjects handled by arrogant professors are most likely boring. Like, every moment you get inside the classroom you would wish that you can push time to get real quick and that you will have your life back again. But, do not be ever so obvious about it. You should strategize some techniques that will help you look as interested as ever to their subjects. They like that. I mean they really like that. So, that would be additional points for you to get through that subject without going through emotional torture and trouble.

  1. Do not ever use the expression, “It is just a minor subject.”

As what I have said, these kinds of professors want importance and they need validation all the time that their subjects  are not taken for granted. So, they would really hate to hear you belittle their subject. In fact, to compensate the number of units earned in their subjects, which are at three units the average, they would bombard you with so many requirements to accomplish, mostly paper works like reflection paper, reaction paper, and all kinds of paper works that they could ever think, but do not ever say that their subject is just a minor subject. If you want to just do the things that they just told you, then do not make face, otherwise, you will get more and that is for sure.

Arrogant professors are really common in the university; they could really add up to your burdens while in college but mind you, these kinds of professors are the smartest in their fields. It is just that they have their own unique mood and way of imparting lessons to their classes. You should take it positively, if you have survived at least one arrogant professor, I know, you have learned a lot!
