5 Best School Activities for Character Building

Apart from other skills, character building is one of the important things that should be focused in every classroom from the elementary level. Experts reveal some interesting and short activities for students that can induce better character pillars in them. Here are the best school activities:

1. Citizenship Activity

After playing some lovely citizenship poems on the music system, let the children know what citizenship is? Call some leaders in your institute and tell them to share their experiences. Arrange programs on defense day, Independence Day and so on. Let every student participate in it and make banners with them showing slogans about patriotism. Besides this, take them to the community parks and ask them to pick up the wrappers, tell them about tombs of great leaders and make a visit once in a month.

 2. Kindness Activity

Give a task of kindness to every student and take feedback from their parents. For instance, giving a task of arranging plates for mother, picking up wrappers from the floor without being asked, feeding an animal on time, making donation for needy people are some of the activities that can encourage students towards kindness.

3. Trust and Keeping a Promise

Start this activity by asking questions about how many promises they have made so far and of what kind? Encourage them to tell about promises their parents and elders have made with them and fulfilled. Now ask about the difficulties they face in fulfilling their promises and play your part in helping them.

4. Have a discussion about forgiveness

Same as keeping a promise activity, start your discussion by asking questions about how many times their elders forgive them every day? Tell them a short story about forgiveness and then assign characters to them. Let them act according to the story and dress up accordingly.

5. Responsibility Activity

Tell them about their daily responsibilities in classroom and home. Now make flashcards and write one responsibility on each. Shuffle the cards and ask every student to pick one randomly. Now responsibilities are assigned to every student. Grade them on the same flashcards on weekly basis and give rewards for better results.

Character building cannot be done in a single day. It requires time and efforts from the instructors as well as from the parents. Planning out these interesting activities and engaging the students actively in them will definitely expose good results.
