Dubai is an emirate in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) federation. Dubai is the main city of the emirate. It has the largest population in the UAE. The city is famous for its skyscrapers, high-rise buildings, especially the world’s tallest Burj Khalifa. Capital being Abu Dhabi and currency UAE dirham (AED). 1 AED = 16.31 INR.

In winter, the average day time temperature is of 25 degrees whereas in summers the weather is very hot and humid with the temperature reaching mid 40’s. Rainfall in Dubai is not frequent and on an average it rains only for five days in Dubai. Arabic is the national language in UAE and English is the second language.

Fee Structure

Living Costs

International students should have a budget of at least AED 3000 to AED 6000 per month, depending on whether you stay on or off campus. This includes accommodation, transport, food, utilities, and entertainment.

Accommodation Costs

Campus accommodation can cost approximately 3000 AED whereas private rented accommodations are 5000 AED approx.

Admission Process

Entrance Exams

One has to appear for Entrance Exams like TOEFL and IELTS in order to study in Dubai.

Admission Intakes

January, May, July, August, September and November.

Application Process

All the applicants must submit relevant documents with the application form.

  • The university will check your academic transcripts and you will be given admission based on them.
  • Once the application is successful you will receive a conditional confirmation offer letter from them which can be used to apply for the student resident visa.
  • Visa procedure will take a week to get processed after you apply for visa.
  • After getting approval for visa you can book your tickets.

 

Eligibility

Undergraduate Study

  • Minimum 12 years of schooling.
  • Some universities like the Al Ghurair University, University of Wollongong in Dubai, Middlesex University Dubai needs a minimum percentage of 50%-60% if you are coming from CBSE or ISC board.
  • The student must also meet English language requirements by either obtaining a cutoff score in IELTS and TOEFL or securing 70% in English.

Postgraduate Study

  • To get admission in any postgraduate program, one must have a bachelor’s degree that is recognized in Dubai or the home country.
  • For admission to programs other than an MBA, one needs bachelor’s degree along with TOEFL or IELTS.
  • If a student wants to seek admission in an MBA program in Dubai, then he/she should have relevant work experience of 2-4 years pertaining to the program and the university applied.

Visa Requirements

  • Students who have passports from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries do not need a visa.
  • However, All other students must obtain a student visa.
  • The application can be made via an electronic form and will require a photo of the student. Apart from visa fees, a deposit of AED 1000 (about $300 US) is also required which is refunded when the student departs the UAE.
  • To process the student visa the student must hold an unconditional offer of acceptance and the student should have accepted the offer.
