Mathematics is a subject that is dreaded by most students. The name of Maths is enough to scare students out of their wits. The reason behind this fear is that most students believe mathematics to be a tough subject that is not easy to study. Due to this mental conviction, students often find themselves struggling with Maths.

The solution to the above problem is to take interest in Mathematics. So now the question arises, “How can Maths be your favorite subject?” To make maths your friend, you must first realize that maths is not at all difficult. In fact, maths is the easiest subject. You do not have to memorize any theory concepts. If you remember the formulas correctly, you can arrive at the correct answer. And the formulas used in maths puzzles can be easily memorized by practicing a lot of numerical. Therefore, if you practice a lot of numerical problems then half of your work is done. Practicing numerical problems not only gives you confidence but also increases your problem solving capacity.

To develop interest in mathematics, you must learn to solve word problems. Suppose you learn a new formula, apply it to solve a real life problem. Let’s take an example to make this clear. Let’s assume you learn a formula on integration. Take a graph sheet, draw a curve on the sheet and find the area under the curve using the squares on the sheet. Next, using integration, find the area of the graph. You will be thrilled to see that you’re both your answers match. The joy that you will derive from this little experiment will thrust you forward to learn more and apply those concepts in daily life. This is not limited to integration only. If you learn something, try to apply it in your daily life. This is one of the best methods to develop an interest in mathematics.

Practice, Practice and Practice!

One thing should be kept in mind that mathematics is a subject that requires a lot of practice. It is one thing to develop an interest in mathematics and another thing to score good marks in it. If you want to score good marks in maths, solve as many problems as you can. If you get a wrong answer, mark the question, read the correct answer and move on. At the end of the week, revise those questions which you marked and try to see if you get a correct answer this time. Keep repeating this procedure till you get a correct answer. This is the key to scoring good marks in maths.

Also, during your free hours, try to solve some riddles and brainteasers. Solving these is not only interesting but it also has a two-fold advantage. First, it will help you develop an interest in maths and secondly it will help you to sharpen your analytical skills which are very important in your future professional career. There are a lot of tips and tricks available out there which can be used to peak your interest in math. Try to learn as much as possible. Face your fear of math by solving more and more numerical problems in Maths. Analyze your weak sections and try to improve them by practicing.
