How Is It Like To Be Top Student At High Ranked University?

“Success is easy to attain, but difficult to maintain”- This one phrase can define the mindset of a top student of a premium institution.

The first thing a topper has is a satisfaction of having reached the apex. He has a sense of contentment that his hard work bore a worthy fruit. This shear satisfaction motivates him to maintain this position and helps him acknowledge the fact-that now, his battle for excellence is with none other than he, himself.

In the process of working hard to be on the top notch and achieving the apical position, a top grade student also gains confidence. He is much more certain and secure about his future and career than his peers. Security about his career helps him focus on other vital things- like his personality and other co-curricular skills. Probably, this is the reason why we see that most toppers are very well spoken, and often, are also good at sports, art or music.

What makes a real topper is the continuous zeal with which he keeps moving, and does not let his success take a toll on him. He is always grounded and understands that only efforts have led him to where he is.

Speaking about career, a topper is always at an advantage of getting placed with the best companies during campus placements, because of his academic credentials. Since a topper is always very particular about assignments and submissions, the institute faculty adores him and also aids him in cracking the best job.

But as the opening quote suggests, life isn’t a cakewalk for even the toppers. Not everything is rosy in a top student’s life. A topper faces a lot of problems- mockery, mental pressure, family pressure, etc.

The hard work of a topper if often mocked by fellow students by calling him a names like bookworm, mugger, etc. As is said- there’s place for just one at the peak. Toppers are mostly deserted by peers and are befriended only for academic help, otherwise is mostly left alone.

A topper is continuously under a lot of pressure from faculty and family to maintain his position. Also, the addiction of success makes him work hard, and sometimes in the persistent fight to be the best, he neglects his health and often has to pay dearly for it.

With the rising competition, a topper has to be on tenterhooks all the time to maintain this tag of “supreme student”, without letting any pressure or his success get over his head or letting work take a toll on his health.

Coupled with a lot of perseverance, patience and hard work-the most earnest thing that makes a topper-are the efforts, support and guidance of his family and faculty, for which he must forever be grateful.

After all, you need someone to celebrate your success with!
