Dark Sides of IT Professionals Life In India, Are You One of Them?

It is well known that nothing in this world comes for free. For everything you want to achieve, you pay a price- which isn’t monetary, but often much more than money. Yes, the IT professionals have immense respect in the society, but they pay a hefty price for the huge money and respect they gain.

Information Technology is an ever-growing, ever expanding industry, engaging humungous number of people at various levels. As per the opinion of Indians, being a professional in this genre guarantees you with a very secure future in terms of money, which you’ll understand is paradox, as you surf through this article. Also, when it comes to your life beyond your work- family life, friends, vacations et al- you tend to lose it all.

Work Life Balance

Once you set your foot in this industry, your only constant companions will be- your computer system and your latest mobile. You might be touted as the most tech-savvy person in your group, always equipped with the latest gadgets but you will crave to escape this virtual world. You won’t have the time or people to show off all this to. When you plan to get into this industry, you should be very clear about letting go of your social life. This isn’t all, your parents, spouse and kids will yearn to spend time with you and so will you. Also, when you’ll see your other friends going on exotic vacations, growing professionally, preparing for further studies etc., it will add to you stress of being tangled in this rat race. In addition, you’ll become irritable and vent out all your frustration of work on people who’d try to comfort you. Hence, you’ll end up losing a lot of people, owing to your being over worked.

Health Issues

You also start to age prematurely, because of being subjected to screens all through the day and often, even the nights. You develop baggy eyes, black circles. You face no more holds any luminous property- you lose all your glow, of which you once used to boast- off course before you set off on this journey as an IT professional. As you age in this industry, you had more feathers to your cap of lifestyle diseases- back problems, hypertension, diabetes, deficiencies-to mention a few.

Time Management

Coming to office work, you’ll literally die coding-you, better you code, the more they’ll scrutinize it. If once in a blue moon, it finalized before the deadline, the buyer would change his requirements, and you’ll be back to square one. Also, managers and seniors mostly hand down work, only when they’re leaving the office in the evening. Added to this is the earth’s boon of time difference, which will pester you the most if you have a foreign client- because in the day you’ll work at the office and late hours, you’ll be liaising with them.

Monetary Impact

Talking about monetary benefits, everybody assumes that IT professionals earn incredibly huge amounts. But, in reality, a majority of the workforce of this industry, spend almost as much as they earn to pay rents, bills and to meet other expenses and left with breadcrumbs to call as savings. Also, like all other industries, this too is biased on religion and region and the appraisals are a lottery- purely based of luck and how much you buttered your senior.

However people might respect a professional in Information Technology sector, the truth is, this industry too has a very dark side and takes a toll on everyone who’s a part of it. But then the respect and security of your future you get here, is worth the pain.
