No social life for engineering students

A common misconception is that engineering students have to study all the time. This could not be farther from the truth! Although engineering students have to spend long hours studying, it does not take the whole day or night. It is true that we spend much time studying. But it is actually the same for other degrees. The general recommended time for studying and revising in 10 hours per week. This is the same for most other degrees. So, rest assured. There is more than enough time for engineering students to attend parties, socialize and enjoy sports. In fact, we are active in clubs just as much as students from other degree programs.

There are no girls in engineering school

Any engineering student would laugh at hearing this. No girls in engineering school? It is such an irony since the number of girls presently admitted in engineering schools is higher than ever before. In fact, this number has been increasing since the past decade. Girls do not feel let out when studying engineering anymore. Organizations such as ‘Women in Engineering’ and similar others support girls to get into this mainstream course. They provide scholarships and other financial aids. They organize social events and networking for female engineering students. Thus, it would be safe to say that studying engineering is now easier for a girl.

Engineering school is damaging to health

There is no denying that engineering is a tough course. There is difficult coursework to be completed. Assignment deadlines need to be met. Many people assume that all this stress damages the health of students. However, this is also a mere myth! Engineering students look so relaxed and chilled. Why? It is because we know what we got ourselves into. The fact that we are admitted into an engineering student is already proof of our capabilities. So, we can handle the workload without stressing ourselves. Also, any engineering student can tell you this: we definitely know how to have our fun. Just see the ruckus we create in class. You will have a clear idea that entertainment is part of our schedule.

A Word of Caution

Engineering school is a great place to learn and study. But it is also a great place to have the fun of a college life and socialize. However, the primary goal of attending engineering school is to finish with an engineering degree in hand. You will not have an award for the number of hours you spend socializing. So, despite all myths, focus on your goals first.
